About me

An industrious and adaptable designer-developer-tinkerer, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for problem solving.

I have a solid background in design with a good technical head too. I’m open to projects ranging from UX/UI design (having had full-time roles in both) to a full developmental build of a site from design spec, when you’re just in need of a front-end developer with a designer’s eye.

I’m a big advocate of prototyping and designing in the browser - I’m intrigued by the intersection of design and engineering and I’m always striving to bridge that gap between disciplines.

BBC GEL Responsive guidelines

Identity, Digital, Strategy

For a year I worked in collaboration with Al Jones on BBC’s GEL (Global Experience Language) developing responsive principles and guidelines, including typography, local navigation, and interaction patterns for sites and products across the BBC's digital portfolio.

I led an initiative to improve touch optimisation on the web, introducing a touch-first policy for design of all of our online offerings, including BBC News, Sport, Weather, iPlayer, iWonder and more.
